Birmingham-based singer/songwriter Duquette Johnston returns after three years with the Rebel King (EP), out January 29, 2013 via NoiseTrade.

Working with esteemed producer Armand Margjeka, Johnston presents a look at his new album, Rabbit Runs A Destiny, out on May 21, 2013 on Pipe & Gun/Communicating Vessels, with “Dancing Song,” as well as two re-recorded takes from standout tracks “Angels Whispering” and “Silver and Gold,” from his last release, Rugged & Fancy (2010).

For the new album, Johnston brought in a stellar cast of musicians to flesh out the album’s sound, including drummer Evan Hutchings (Brandi Carlile, Sara Watkins), guitarist Kyle Ryan (Mindy Smith, Madi Diaz) and bassist Adam Popick (Rachael Yamagata, James Farrell). Mixing the work done with the full band and what Johnston and Margjeka had recorded on their own, the result was a collection of work that broadened Johnston’s signature Americana roots rock and expanded it out into new territories of sound and texture.
